Are you feeling a little low at the moment and wish you could just feel a bit happier but not sure how? Here are some quick tips on how to increase your happiness:
Exercise, exercise, exercise! This is such a great way to raise your happiness levels because when you exercise, it releases endorphins, dopamine and serotonin which are your very own happy hormones within your body. Exercise also reduces the body's stress hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol.
Spend time with people who make you happy, make you smile and who enjoy being with you. Laugh, play and have fun with these people...they are who you need in your life right now.
Be kind to yourself - do something that you enjoy, you know, that hobby that you just never seem to have time for anymore, or watch that film that you keep saying you'll watch but never get round to. You are important and you deserve time to yourself...make the time.
Reflect on all the good things in your life - we can all look at what's going wrong in our life, what's not happening the way we wanted it to and that's because we are off balance internally - our expectations and reality are not matching up. However, what we can do is look at all the things that we can be grateful for, at the things that have gone right in our lives and know that any hiccups along the way are not permanent.
Have a good night's sleep - I appreciate this is easier said than done if you are in the vicious circle of not feeling happy, so therefore not sleeping. However, if you set yourself a routine - maybe read a book half an hour before bed, go to bed at a sensible time and try to get at least 8 hours, this can help to improve your happiness level.
Give them a try, you've got nothing to lose right?
